5 WAYS TO THANK A COLLEAGUE

Along with implementing a peer recognition award scheme, there are other ways you can encourage staff to thank a colleague in their day-to-day work – here are our 5 favourite methods:

  • Thank You Cards

    Show appreciation to a colleague using personalised thank you cards that link the recognition to a company value. These can be distributed via email or direct to the recipients’ home/office location as a printed card. Small gestures of thanks can be submitted via an instant email with manager notification, with no associated value, whereas those nominations worthy of greater note can be submitted for adjudication and a prize presented at the end of the month.

  • Wall of fame

    Choose a prominent place on your intranet and a physical representation in an area with high footfall, such as your reception, and frame a photo and quick ‘case study’ of an employee’s recognised contributions.

  • Meetings

    Print off congratulatory certificates related to the latest nominations made via your online system and allocate a few minutes at the end of team meetings for attendees to say ‘thank you’ to a colleague in person, recognising their contribution in front of their peers.

  • Team ‘leader board’

    Much in the same way as you might have a leader board for targets, you could also design something similar for peer recognition. See who’s got the most thanks at the end of the week and present them with a small token, such as a gift card or box of chocolates.

  • Newsletters

    Having a dedicated ‘thank you’ section in both your internal and external newsletters is a great way of ensuring everyone sees it – which means that impact on staff morale is even higher!
